A client told me my lens cleaning was 'too aggressive' and it actually made me rethink everything
Some guy at a shop in Portland said I was scrubbing too hard on his vintage glass and handed me a q-tip with a drop of lens fluid - turns out gentle circles actually work better. Has anyone else had a customer call you out on something that ended up being right?

That gentle circle method was a game changer for me too. A client at my old shop showed me the same thing with a microfiber cloth and it cut down on smudges by a ton. It definitely stings when a customer points out something you're doing wrong, but that lesson stuck with me ever since.

Hang on a second, "optics" usually means how something looks or is perceived, not how it actually functions. I think you might be mixing up the word with something else.
