Back when I started, I'd clean shutter blades with a cotton swab and lighter fluid... now I use a specific brush and pure naphtha after a bad smudge on a Leica M3.

Oof, felt that smudge pain.

The worst is when you think you got it all, then the light hits it just right. Makes you want to throw the whole phone.
