Customer brought in a camera that was CAKED in maple syrup

A guy from Burlington walked in last Thursday with a Canon AE-1 that was sticky all over, said he dropped it in pancake breakfast at his church fundraiser. I popped the bottom plate and found dried syrup everywhere, the shutter was glued shut at 1/60. Took me 4 hours and a whole bottle of isopropyl to get it clean, but the funny part was he kept asking if I could just 'blow on it like a Nintendo cartridge'. Has anyone else dealt with food inside a body, or is this a new record?

Wait, is maple syrup really that big of a deal for a camera? I mean, sticky stuff is annoying but it's not like it melted the thing. Sounds like you just needed a damp cloth and some patience, not a whole lab cleanup.
