Figured out a trick for stuck shutter blades on old folders
Honestly I was super skeptical when a guy at a swap meet told me to use a tiny dab of lighter fluid on stuck shutter blades. Tried it on a beat up Agfa folder I picked up for 15 bucks at an estate sale. I just dripped a single drop on the blade hinge and worked the shutter a few times. By the third try the blades were moving free and clear. Has anyone else had luck with lighter fluid or do you stick to Ronsonol for this kind of thing?

Swore it was a myth until I tried it myself. It actually works.

You said "swore it was a myth" and that's exactly what I told my neighbor for years. He kept going on about this one trick and I just rolled my eyes every time. But here's the thing nobody talks about... it only works if you're doing the other steps right first. Most people skip the prep work and then blame the trick when it fails.
