That Tuesday where every lens smelled like mildew
Last spring, I had three jobs come in on the same day from a photographer who stored their gear in a basement near Portland, and every single lens had that damp, musty smell plus haze on the inner elements. I spent about 6 hours pulling apart a 24-70mm and a couple primes, cleaning fungus off the glass with peroxide and ammonia mix, which worked but left me wondering if it's safe long term. Has anyone else tried that method on coated elements, or do you just tell the owner the lens is toast?
