My basement moisture fix in Calgary took 8 months, not the weekend I planned.
Everyone said to just seal the walls and get a dehumidifier. Did that. Still had damp spots. Found a tiny crack in the foundation footing. Contractor quoted $12,000 for an exterior dig. Tried a cheaper epoxy injection first. That failed after 3 weeks. Ended up doing a full interior drainage channel. Took forever. Anyone else in a cold climate deal with a hidden foundation leak?

Man, that sounds like a nightmare. Used to think those interior fixes were just a band-aid, but your story is a perfect example of why they're sometimes the only real answer. In a place with our freeze-thaw cycles, finding the actual source can be impossible without tearing up the whole yard. That interior channel is a pain to install but it just works, because it doesn't matter where the water comes in anymore. It all hits the drain. Changed my whole view on dealing with basement water.

Exactly, once you accept you can't always win outside, the inside fix makes sense. How long did it take for the concrete dust to finally settle after cutting that channel? Mine was a solid week of wiping down every surface.
