Rent in my building jumped $400 in 12 months - same unit, nothing changed

I moved into my apartment in Toronto back in late 2021 paying $1800 for a one bedroom. This year my lease renewal came with a $400 increase to $2200. No renovations, no new appliances, nothing. Landlord said it's just market rate now. I know rents went up everywhere but that jump felt steep for zero improvements. Has anyone else seen big jumps like this where the building didn't even fix the broken lobby door?

Wait, they raised it $400 without even fixing the broken lobby door?

The broken lobby door has been like that for Six Months. I remember when my cousin's building kept their elevator out of service for almost a year while they kept increasing the rent every single lease renewal. They finally fixed it after someone got stuck on the third floor with a broken leg. But the door still doesn't close right even now. These management companies act like maintenance is a suggestion, not a requirement.
