Rent in my old Halifax building went from $1,150 to $1,780 in 3 years and the place looks worse now
I moved out of a 1 bedroom on Robie St in Halifax back in 2021 and was paying $1,150 plus heat. My old neighbor still lives there and told me the new landlord gutted nothing, just slapped some grey paint on the cabinets and relisted units at $1,780. Same carpet, same drafty windows, same laundry room with two busted machines. How is anyone supposed to argue this is about improvements when the building is falling apart?
