That landlord in Hamilton who actually showed up at 2am stuck with me
Back in 2019 I rented this basement unit in Hamilton and the hot water tank blew out during a freezing January night. I texted the landlord around 1:45am just to leave a message for the morning, not expecting anything. He showed up at 2:15am with a space heater and a case of bottled water, then camped out in the hallway until a plumber came at 7am. He didn't own a property management company or anything, just a guy with three duplexes who took calls personally. That level of care made me stay there for 4 years, even when the rent went up $200. I've moved to Mississauga since and my current landlord takes 3 days to answer an email about a leaky faucet. Has anyone else had a landlord who genuinely went above the bare minimum, or are those stories just urban legends now?
