Backcountry lanes beat the highway every time for me

I rode the 93 down to Banff last July and hit traffic three times. Then I took the back roads through Kananaskis on the way back. No crowds, better corners, and I saved about 90 minutes total. Has anyone else given up on the main routes up here in Alberta?
