Crossed 2,000 kms on a brand new gravel route in Ontario last weekend

I mapped out this loop near Bancroft that linked a bunch of old logging roads and rail trails. Hit exactly 2,034 kms over three days and my legs felt like lead by the end. I thought I planned enough water stops but ran out with 15 kms left on day two. Has anyone else done a long self-supported ride and miscalculated their supplies that badly?

That "legs felt like lead" part hit close to home. I've done the same thing on a similar ride near Sudbury thought I had water figured out but blew through my reserves way faster than expected. The miscalculation happens because we underestimate how much we actually drink when we're grinding hard on gravel. I always plan one extra stop now or carry a backup filter just in case. Your Bancroft loop sounds brutal but beautiful, those logging roads can be deceivingly long.

Used to think I was fine without a backup filter... this changed my mind.
