My buddy's bike chain snapped on the Sea to Sky highway near Squamish last weekend (right before a big climb, of course).

Sounds about right. My chain gave up the ghost once right at the bottom of a stupidly steep hill in my own neighborhood. Had to do the walk of shame, pushing this useless bike while wearing those embarrassing tight shorts. The universe just loves to add that extra bit of humiliation to the mechanical failure.

I used to think that walk was just bad luck, but you've got a point about the universe piling on.
