Shoutout to the old rider at the Tim Hortons in Sudbury who told me to check my tire pressure cold
I was getting lousy mileage and wandering on the 17 before that 2 minute tip, so now I want to know what other small checks you all swear by before a long haul.
What else do you check? I used to figure tire pressure was a shop thing, not my problem between oil changes, and I paid for it. Had a rear tire that was low the whole time and I couldn't feel it in the city, but on a long haul the bike kept wanting to drift and I blamed the road for hours. Now I do a quick walk around before any big ride, kick the tires, look at the tread, check the chain slack and give the oil a look. Takes two minutes and it has saved me twice already.
