That $20 tube of chain lube from Canadian Tire actually outlasted my usual stuff

I always bought the fancy $15 name brand but grabbed the Motomaster stuff on a whim during a sale. It's been 600 km on my commuter route through downtown Vancouver and the chain is still quiet and clean. Anyone else found a cheap product that worked better than expected?

Are you serious? I had the exact opposite experience with the Motomaster stuff, @jadep41. I followed that whole "let it soak" trick to a T and still ended up with a sticky, grimy mess on my chain after a couple of wet rides. The cheap stuff just attracts every bit of grit on the road here in Vancouver. I'd rather pay a few extra bucks for the name brand that actually stays put and doesn't turn my drivetrain into a sandpaper paste.

500 km on my rain-soaked North Shore commute and the Motomaster stuff is still going strong. I actually switched because the expensive lube kept washing off after one wet ride. The key is let it soak in for 10 minutes before wiping off the excess otherwise you get that sticky grime.
