Took the scenic route through BC instead of the Coquihalla, zero regrets
Last month I had to get from Kamloops to Vancouver and everyone told me to just take the Coquihalla, it's faster. But the forecast showed clear skies and I had a free afternoon, so I picked Highway 99 through Lillooet and Pemberton instead. That twisty stretch along the Fraser Canyon had me white-knuckling at 60 km/h, but the views of the Stein Valley made up for every slow corner. It added about 3 hours to my ride, but I stopped for a burger in Pemberton and watched a bear cross the road near Seton Lake. The Coquihalla would've saved me time, but I'd rather have a memory than an extra hour at home. Anyone else take the long way and end up glad they did, or am I just bad at planning?
