Unpopular opinion: I was wrong about heated gear, one ride to Banff at -6 changed my mind
I always figured heated vests were for guys who never learned to layer, so I rode with three wool sweaters for two winters up here in Calgary. Last month I did a run out to Banff in -6 and my core was fine but my hands went numb by Cochrane, so I borrowed a buddy's heated liner for the ride back. It took me about 40 minutes to admit he was right, mostly because I couldn't feel the brake lever anymore. Now I'm looking at a heated setup for next season and my old layering plan feels pretty silly. Anyone here running heated grips only, or is the full vest and gloves combo actually worth it?
