Used to think stud finders were all the same til I tried a Franklin at a job site near Hamilton

I spent years using those cheap magnetic stud finders from Home Depot, the ones that just stick to a drywall screw. They worked okay for finding the edge but never gave me the center. Then last summer I was helping a buddy frame out a basement and he handed me his Franklin 710. I mean, it caught a live wire behind the wall on the first pass. That thing paid for itself when I avoided drilling into a pipe at a rental in Mississauga last month. Now I won't touch anything else for electrical work. Has anyone else had a tool that just made you feel stupid for not buying it sooner?

And that Franklin unit, man, it's a total game changer for sure. I had the exact same experience, I was using one of those little magnetic blocks for years and just thought I was bad at finding studs. Then I borrowed a friends 710 and found a surprise junction box behind some old plaster in my own house (which was terrifying, honestly). It's brutal admitting you've been working harder not smarter for so long.

Grabbed one for myself right after that and never looked back.
