Winter riding gear debate: heated vest vs. extra layers
I rode from Vancouver to Hope last weekend in -5 and my heated vest kept me warm the whole way, but my buddy swore by his three layer system and said batteries are a scam. He ended up shivering after 45 minutes while I was fine. Anyone else find that heated gear makes a bigger difference than just piling on more clothes?

dude your buddy is totally wrong, I had the same thing happen with my heated jacket liner last winter - layers just trap cold air but the heat actually keeps your core warm and makes the ride so much more comfortable.

I totally agree, the heated vest keeps the warmth right where you need it instead of just trapping cold air.
