Winter tires on a cruiser, hear me out before you laugh
Everyone in the group keeps saying you need a dual sport or adventure bike for Canadian winters. Last season I ran a set of proper studded tires on my old Honda Shadow in Edmonton and it handled the ice better than my buddy's KTM. The weight of the cruiser actually helps keep the rear planted. It's not about the bike type, it's about tire pressure and riding slow. Anyone else tried studs on a heavy bike or am I the only one who thinks this works?

Friend of mine strapped studded tires on his old Vstar 1100 in BC. He figured the extra weight would help the rear stay put, and the front did most of the sliding anyway. First icy morning he's cruising to work like a tractor, no drama, while a guy on a GS was doing the slow shuffle beside him. He said the trick was dropping the psi way low and pretending the throttle was made of glass. The only thing that got sketchy was braking, so he just planned stops like a mile ahead.
