A guy at the junkyard laughed at my car cover setup
Last Tuesday I was pulling a bumper off a 2004 Civic at Pull-A-Part in Phoenix when this older dude in a stained denim jacket walked by my car and just pointed at the tarp bungeed over the seats. He said "that's why your interior smells like a wet dog, you're trapping the moisture, not blocking the sun." He showed me his trick of cutting pool noodles in half lengthwise and laying them under the straps to lift the cover off the paint, so air can flow under it. Has anyone else tried that, or do you just accept the mildew smell in summer?

Getting laughed at for something you thought was a solid setup stings, especially from a stranger who makes it sound obvious. Pool noodles under the straps is a simple fix though, and he's not wrong about airflow being the real enemy out here. Better to take the tip and save your seats than keep fighting that musty smell all summer.
