Dropped $600 on a car cover that trapped water and rusted my trunk lid, check your cover before winter
I bought a $600 cover from a local shop in Sacramento last October thinking it would protect my Camaro from the rain, but the thing didn't breathe at all and I pulled it off in March to find water sitting on the trunk lid and rust starting along the seam. I spent another $150 getting the rust fixed, so that cover ended up costing me $750 total for damage it caused. Has anyone here used a breathable cover in a wet climate, and did it actually keep the water out or am I better off with a carport?
That line about the cover not breathing is the whole problem, I read a thing from a detailer that said cheap covers basically turn your trunk into a terrarium. You want something labeled breathable, like the multi layer ones, or honestly a carport is the safer bet in Sacramento.
