My neighbor in Phoenix says leaving a car outside in the sun is better than a cheap carport
My neighbor Ray has parked his 2004 Tacoma outside in Phoenix for 12 years, and he swears by it. He said a $700 metal carport traps heat and rusts out in 5 years, while the open air lets the wind do the drying. But I keep reading that UV rays here crack dashboards and eat clear coat, and my own cover fell apart in 8 months. So which is the lesser evil: sun damage or a cheap structure that might trap moisture? If you live somewhere that hits 115 in July, what actually worked for you?
Cheap carports are trash, they just trap heat and turn into rust buckets. My aunt's got one in Tucson and it's already falling apart after like 4 years. Just park in the shade or get a real cover.
