That retired engineer who told me to use desiccant bags in my storage unit
Three years ago an old guy at the hardware store said to throw a few big silica gel bags inside each car cover before winter storage. Last month I pulled the cover off my 68 Camaro and there was zero rust or mildew anywhere, even after that wet spring we had. Anybody else swear by a cheap trick like this or am I just lucky?

Wait, zero rust?! After three years in storage? That's genuinely shocking to me. I had a buddy who stored his project car with just a basic cover and it came back looking like a barn find (and not in a good way). Desiccant bags are one of those things you never think about until someone points it out, and then it's like, why doesn't everyone do this? Honestly, that old engineer might have just saved your Camaro from a slow death, which is wild to think about.
