The neighbor who covered his Porsche in a tarp and called it storage
My neighbor down the street in Phoenix threw a tarp over his 911 and left it in the driveway for 8 months. I finally walked over and asked if he knew tarps trap moisture against paint. He said he didn't think about it. Now he has rust spots all along the quarter panels and a $5,000 paint repair bill. Has anyone else dealt with explaining basic car storage to someone who just doesn't get it?

Tarps actually don't trap moisture, but the lack of airflow underneath will cause condensation.

My buddy Kevin in Tucson did something similar with his project car. He threw a heavy tarp over his old Camaro thinking he was being smart, then found mold spots all over the vinyl seats six months later. Took him forever to get the smell out.
