An HR rep in Columbus mentioned that 75% of resumes never reach a human, and I can't get it out of my head
She said that at a job fair last month, and now I'm wondering if anyone here has actually gotten a callback from just tossing applications into company portals, or if we all need to know somebody to get anywhere.

That 75% number gets thrown around a lot and nobody ever has a real source for it. Plenty of people get callbacks from online apps, it just takes way more of them than anyone wants to admit. The system is annoying, not impossible.
