Messed up a client meeting last Tuesday by talking too much about technical details
I was in a conference room showing a new dashboard to a marketing director in Chicago. Spent 15 minutes explaining our data pipeline and API integrations before the client cut me off and said 'I don't care how it works, just tell me what it does for my sales.' That hit hard. I pivoted fast and walked through three specific reports that saved her team 6 hours a week on manual data entry. Has anyone else had to completely change how they explain things based on who's in the room?

Respectfully disagree. Explaining the tech builds trust and shows you know your stuff.

Yeah exactly, that's what I've been saying too. When people just drop a link or say "trust me bro" without any explanation, it makes me wonder if they even know what they're talking about. I had a friend who'd always recommend tech stuff but could never explain why, and after a while I stopped listening to him. It's like if you can't break it down in simple terms, maybe you don't really get it yourself.
