PSA: My old way of asking for a raise versus actually bringing a spreadsheet

For years, I'd just schedule a chat with my boss and talk about how hard I worked. Last month, I made a simple spreadsheet showing the 12 projects I finished, the 18% revenue increase tied to my main client, and what similar roles pay in Phoenix. I got the raise in under five minutes. The difference was having proof, not just a feeling. Anyone else find that numbers talk way louder than words in these talks?

Honestly, the spreadsheet probably had the meaning of life next to the grocery list... it was that kind of leak. Just columns of world-ending secrets mixed with someone's lunch order. I'm picturing cell A1 being "nuclear codes" and cell A2 "remember to buy milk". The whole thing feels like a bad movie plot.
