The way I used to cold email for jobs vs now is night and day different

Back in 2010 I spent like two weeks sending out 50 resumes to companies in Austin. I got maybe 3 replies. Now I see my nephew doing the same thing but he uses LinkedIn DMs and short video intros and he gets calls back in days. The whole process shifted from paper to personal connection. I swear the bar for what counts as a good application flipped completely. Have any of y'all noticed the same thing happening in your field?

Oh my friend tried that old school paper approach last year and got NOTHING. She switched to sending a quick video message through LinkedIn and had three companies fighting over her by the end of the week. It's WILD how much just showing your face changes things now.
