Warning: my best week at work started with a client screaming at me

It was a Tuesday in April, the client called our whole team useless over a missed deadline. I spent that night just fixing the one thing they hated, a broken report filter. By Friday, the same person emailed my boss calling my solution 'brilliant' and gave us a bigger project. Anyone else have a terrible start turn into a real win like that?

That's a great story, but I wouldn't call a client screaming at you a "terrible start." That's a hostile work environment. My win was when a project spec was just completely wrong from the start. I had to redo the first two weeks of work on my own time to meet the real goal, but it ended up getting me a spot on a better team.

Relate to that, my own "win" started with a typo so bad it crashed a test server (sorry @mitchell.daniel, your redo sounds way harder).
