Had to pick between a miter saw and a track saw for a big trim job
I was doing a full interior trim package on a house in Springfield and needed to decide which tool to buy first. The choice was a 12-inch sliding miter saw or a cordless track saw, with a budget of about $600. I went with the miter saw because I had a lot of crown and base to cut, and it just seemed faster for that. It worked out fine, but I'm wondering if I should have gotten the track saw for the long rip cuts on the plywood panels. Anyone have a strong opinion on which one is more useful to own first?

Honestly, you made the right call for that job. A track saw is great, but you can always break down sheet goods with a circular saw and a straight edge guide for now.

True, and that's how I started too. My first straight edge was just a factory-cut plywood strip clamped down. It got the job done, even if the setup took a bit longer.
