Hit 10,000 board feet planed this month, changed my mind about hand tools

I always thought my power planer was the only way to go for big jobs. But I hit 10,000 board feet on a deck project outside Boise and the dust got so bad I couldn't see my layout lines. I grabbed my old #7 hand plane out of frustration, just to clean up a few spots. Turns out it was faster for the final pass than setting up the power tool again and again. Now I do rough stock with the planer and finish with the hand plane. Has anyone else switched back to manual for the last bit of a job?

Good to hear, I do the same thing now, just not as much footage as you.
