Hot take: I bought a cheap miter saw stand for a deck job and it cost me a whole afternoon.
It was one of those flimsy folding stands, maybe $80 at the big box store. The legs wobbled so bad I couldn't get a clean cut on the 2x10s, and I had to redo about a dozen boards. Ended up losing about four hours of work and had to rent a proper stand to finish. Anyone have a solid, portable stand they actually trust for framing work?

Oh man, that part about redoing a dozen boards... I felt that. I had the same exact thing happen with a cheap stand last fall. The locking pins were so weak they'd slip if you just looked at them wrong. I spent more time trying to prop it up with scrap wood than actually cutting. It's totally false economy, those things just eat up your time and ruin material. I'd rather just set up on sawhorses now than deal with that wobble again.

Yeah, I think the wobble is a feature, not a bug. It's how they get you to buy the 'pro' model.
