My new miter saw stand folded in half on a job site yesterday

Was cutting crown molding for a client in Denver and the locking pins just gave out on my portable stand. Dropped the saw on my foot and ruined $200 worth of trim. Anyone else had a stand fail on them like that?

Locking pins just gave out"... man that's terrifying honestly. I've always been a little nervous about those portable stands but never actually seen one fold up. Dropping a saw on your foot is bad enough but ruining $200 of crown molding on top of that... that's just salt in the wound. I always thought those pins were supposed to be bomb proof but I guess not. Hope you're okay and the foot isn't too messed up.

Wait, those locking pins are what's SUPPOSED to stop the whole thing from collapsing? I always figured they'd be total overkill, like a seatbelt you never need. Hearing they just failed like that is a real eye opener. You'd think the design would have some redundancy, maybe a backup catch or something. I wonder if it was just a fluke with that particular model or if it's a common issue. Guess I'll be giving my stand a real careful look before I set it up again from now on.
