Saw a guy at a job site use a speed square for marking pipe angles... blew my mind
Was on a remodel in Denver last Tuesday and this old timer pulls out his speed square to mark a 45 on some copper pipe for the handrails. I always used a protractor or just guessed. He showed me the pivot point trick in like 30 seconds. Anyone else learn a tool hack way later than they should have?

My neighbor uses his speed square as a straight edge for drywall cuts.

Uses his speed square as a straight edge for drywall cuts" - that one's actually not a hack, it's just what they're made for (the lip grabs the edge of the drywall perfectly). The real mind-bender for me was learning you can use that little notch at the 6-inch mark to scribe a perfect parallel line on wood or pipe. I learned that one like three years into framing and felt real dumb about it. But for your copper pipe handrail thing, the pivot trick is legit, you just gotta make sure your speed square is actually a true 90 degrees first, lots of them get dropped and warped over time.
