Tape measure hook caught 1/16th off for two years, fixed it with a dollar bill

Kept getting slightly short cuts on cabinets and trim. Checked the hook and it had a bit of slop from heavy use. Slid a folded dollar bill between the hook and the tape to reset the gap, then re-riveted it. That fixed my measurements on the next job in under 10 minutes. Anyone else ever shimmed a tape hook instead of replacing the whole thing?
