The day I dropped a full box of 16 penny nails off the scaffold and my helper just stood there laughing
Picture a Tuesday morning in September on a two story deck job in Albany, and I'm hauling a 50 lb box of nails up the scaffold on my shoulder like an idiot. I got to the top plank and the box split right at the corner, and 5,000 nails went raining down on the concrete driveway in about two seconds. My helper Danny just froze with his mouth open and then busted out laughing so hard he had to sit down on a bucket, and I could not even be mad because it looked like a cartoon. We spent the next hour with two magnetic sweepers and a couple of dustpans, and I still find a stray nail in my boot liner sometimes. Has anyone else had a drop like that, and did you ever find a smarter way to haul fasteners up high?
