The framing crew at the Lowe's in Springfield made me shake my head

I stopped by the lumber aisle last Thursday to pick up some 2x4s for a small shed project. Three guys were arguing about how to load a bundle onto a flatbed, and one of them was standing on the boards while they were stacked on the ground. That's a fast way to twist a stud before it even gets to a job site. Has anyone else seen this kind of thing at their local store and said something?

Did they have on those giant orange vests? I swear the lumber guys at my store treat the wood like it's indestructible. I've seen them drop a whole bunk of 2x6s off a forklift like it was nothing. Maybe it's just me, but I'd be pretty annoyed if I paid for a straight stud and got one that was already twisted.

Gotta disagree with you a little here Mary... I've seen the lumber guys at my local place and they're pretty careful actually. Never seen them drop a whole bunk or anything like that. They usually handle the wood with those big clamp things on the forklift, pretty smooth most of the time. The twisted stud thing is annoying for sure, but I think that's more on the supplier than the guys in the store. They just unload what shows up, you know? And honestly if you pick through the pile you can usually find some straight ones, it's not like they hide the bad ones on purpose.
