The trim carpenter at the Des Moines airport remodel showed me his pencil trick
I was walking through the new terminal job site in Des Moines last week and saw one of the finish guys with a stack of 6 pencils cut down to about 2 inches each. He keeps them in his nail bag and uses the stubby ones for tight inside corners where a full pencil won't fit, then just tosses them when they get short. The guy has been doing trim for 22 years and said he got tired of fighting a long pencil in a corner and snapping the tips off. I cut down a handful of my own on the miter saw that night and it's honestly made coping a lot less annoying. Anybody here got other small shop habits like that I should steal?
