Tried using a laser level on a 40ft deck build and it saved me 2 hours of pulling tape
I was setting up deck joists for a big backyard project near Spokane and kept getting annoyed with measuring every single drop. Threw a cheap Bosch laser level on a tripod and shot the beam across the whole frame. Realized I could mark all my joist heights at once instead of going end to end with a tape and level stick. Problem was the laser got wonky in bright sun but I just worked in the morning and it was fine. Has anyone else switched to laser for framing or is that just for finish work?

Set up a transit instead works better in full sun for long spans.

My dad used a string level on a 200 foot run last summer and it was within a quarter inch. I mean, for most jobs that's close enough right? Idk, transits are great but setting one up takes forever if you're just doing a simple fence line.
