Found out the average carpet tack strip only holds about 3 years before the pins rust out
I was ripping out a 40 oz plush in a rental over in Mesa last month and the homeowner asked why the edges kept popping loose every couple of years. Guy at my supplier told me most tack strip pins start rusting after 3 years in normal humidity, especially if the slab sweats, which is why I'm now recommending a moisture test before every pull. Does anyone else check slab moisture before restretching, or am I overthinking it?
