Guy at the supply house in Tulsa said never stretch over pad seams, half the crew says it dont matter
So about 6 months ago I was picking up a roll of 8lb pad at a supply house in Tulsa and this old installer, probably been doing it 30 years, watched me load it and goes "you aint stretching over them seams are you?" I said yeah sometimes if the pad is tight and he just shook his head and walked off. Never forgot it. Now heres the thing, Ive been stretching over pad seams for 12 years and Ive never had a callback on it, and two guys on my crew say power stretching hides everything anyway so who cares. But this old dude acted like I just spit on his boots. So whats the real deal, is stretching over a pad seam actually bad or is it one of those old rules that came from the days of junk pad and jute backing? And if it is bad, whats the fix, do you seam the pad or just float it and pray? Genuinely want to hear from guys who been doing this longer than me cause I cant tell if Im cutting corners or if he was just from a different era.
