Just noticed the biggest difference in a carpet job I did 10 years apart
I installed carpet in a house back in 2014, and last week I went back to do the upstairs bedrooms. Same brand of carpet, same padding, same everything. But the old stuff had faded to a pale yellow where the sun hit it through the window, and the new stuff was this rich beige color. The homeowner said she never even noticed the change until she saw the new carpet sitting next to the old hallway piece. Has anyone else gone back to a old job and seen how much the color shifts over time?

Holy cow, wait - ten years and the same carpet brand? That blows my mind. I figured they'd change the formula or dye lot numbers by now for sure. You'd think the factory would screw something up after a decade, but nope, same exact stuff. Guess that proves some things don't change, even if the old carpet looks like it got left in a smoker's basement.

My buddy Dave re-did a kitchen floor back in 2009. Went back last summer to fix a loose tile, the old linoleum was this nasty mustard yellow while the new stuff was bright white. The homeowner never noticed the change til he put the pieces side by side.
