My coworker's toddler decorated the subfloor before we could lay the carpet

The customer thought it was hilarious and asked us to leave it as a time capsule.

Seems like we're giving a lot of weight to some crayon marks on wood. Once the carpet goes over it, that subfloor is out of sight for good. Calling it a time capsule might just be a nice story that loses its charm when you never actually see it. Are we maybe reading too much into simple kid stuff?

Honestly, have you noticed how people are more into keeping real moments instead of perfect ones lately? Tbh, I see this all the time, like folks leaving flaws as part of the story instead of fixing them. This subfloor thing is a perfect example where kid's scribbles became a time capsule because the customer saw the charm. Ngl, life feels so staged sometimes, so we crave genuine stuff with heart. It's not just floors; I see dents in walls or stains on counters kept as memories. Keeping those marks makes spaces feel lived in and loved.

Seriously, who wants to live with someone else's kid's scribbles? It's cute now, but wouldn't that just become an eyesore later?
