Man, @sandrap40, your story hits home. I had a bad spring let go last year. It wasn't on a kicker, but on an old door closer I was taking apart in my garage. That thing shot a piece like a bullet. It zipped right past my ear and put a nasty dent in my metal toolbox across the room. Makes you respect any stored tension in old parts.

Yikes, that bit about metal flying is no joke. Had a spring snap on me once and it was way too close for comfort lol.
