Rant: The laser level hype finally got me in Knoxville

I spent years on my knees with a chalk line and a tape measure, laughing at guys who dropped 300 bucks on a laser level for carpet work. Felt like showboating for a job that's mostly straight walls and doorways. Then last month I had a 40 foot hallway in a Knoxville office with zero square corners, and the chalk line kept drifting no matter how careful I was. Third try, the line bowed and I cut a seam that left a visible gap near the baseboard. I borrowed my buddy's laser level that afternoon, shot the line in under a minute, and the seam landed perfect on the first pass. I still think it's overkill for small bedrooms, but for long runs with weird angles, it's the difference between a redo and a paycheck. Anyone else fight the chalk line for years before giving in, or are you still loyal to the old way?
