Vent: My knee pads hit 3,000 hours and I didn't even notice

I was cleaning my gear and saw the log book I keep for my tools. The cheap pair I bought in 2018 for $45 has outlasted two power stretchers. Has anyone else had a piece of basic gear just refuse to quit?

That's the best kind of gear surprise. It's like the universe's way of making up for the expensive stuff that breaks in a week. You stop even thinking about it because it just works, and that's when you know it was a good buy. Those simple, overbuilt things are becoming rare. Makes you wonder if the fancy gear is designed to fail so you buy it again.

But what if the expensive stuff is just bad by accident? Maybe they're not that smart about making it break, they're just bad at making it last.

Yeah, planned obsolescence is real and annoying.
