Bagged rice vs. bulk bin rice, learned my lesson the hard way in Portland

Picked the $13 bulk bin jasmine over the $9 bagged stuff because the sign said premium, and after 4 weeks of flat, mushy meals I finally checked and the bin rice was 2 years old, so has anyone else gotten burned by fancy-looking bulk bins over sealed bags?
