Broke a $4 spatula trying to flip a frozen hashbrown patty yesterday

The handle just snapped clean off at the plastic joint, left the patty half flipped and smoking in the pan. Anyone else have cheap kitchen tools fail at the worst possible moment?

Honestly, "handle just snapped clean off" is the most dramatic thing that's ever happened to a frozen hashbrown. That patty was probably sitting there smoking like it was plotting revenge on you for trusting a $4 spatula. Tbh, you got what you paid for - that thing was basically a toy with a handle attached. Ngl, I'd be more mad about the wasted hashbrown than the broken spatula, that's a tragedy in itself. Hope you didn't burn your fingers trying to save the crispy bits, because that's a lost cause right there.
