I finally switched from canned beans to dried beans after 15 years

I used to always grab those $1 cans of beans at the grocery store, no question. It was just habit, open the can, rinse, dump into whatever I was making. But about 6 months ago I did the math and realized I was spending like $3.50 a week just on beans for my chili and rice bowls. My buddy at work kept telling me dried beans are cheaper so I finally tried it. One bag of dried pinto beans cost me $1.80 and made the same amount as maybe 4 or 5 cans. The first time I soaked them overnight and cooked them in my slow cooker it was way easier than I thought. Now I prep a big batch every Sunday and freeze portions for the week. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a big difference in their weekly food bill?

Is it really that serious though? I mean, are you honestly saving that much after factoring in the time and effort of soaking and slow cooking beans every week?

People act like ten minutes of prep is a whole job but scroll their phones for hours every night.
