Last Tuesday I made a single pot of chili for $4.28 and it fed me lunch and dinner for four straight days

By Wednesday I was honestly so tired of chili that I almost ordered takeout, which would've completely defeated the whole point of saving money, so does anyone else hit that weird wall where a cheap meal stops being worth it?

ugh i totally feel you on that. last month i made a huge batch of lentil soup on sunday and by tuesday i was literally gagging at the thought of eating it again. like my brain just goes nope not happening even though my wallet is crying. i ended up spending like $15 on a salad i didn't even finish which pretty much cancelled out all the soup savings. it's a real struggle between saving money and not wanting to hate your food lol

Yeah the 4th day of chili is brutal I had that exact same thing happen with a big batch of turkey meatballs I made. What ended up working for me was freezing half the batch right away before I even ate it the first day. That way I had cheap meals waiting for me later but I wasn't forced to eat the same thing every single day. Then on day 3 or 4 I'd pull out the frozen portion and it felt like a totally new meal. Also I started mixing up the sides - one day rice, next day a baked potato, next day throwing it on toast. Small changes made the leftovers way less depressing.
